The pen format

MOTS-c against NAD+ and the rest

MOTS-c is unusual: it is encoded in mitochondrial DNA rather than nuclear DNA, which is rare enough to be interesting on its own. It behaves as a metabolic signalling peptide rather than as a substrate the cell consumes.

That is a genuinely different proposition from NAD+ , which supplies a depleted cofactor directly. One signals; the other refills. They are often discussed together because the outcome people are chasing overlaps, not because the mechanisms do.

It sits between the energy and longevity categories, and the evidence behind it is preclinical, consistent and mechanistically plausible, but not human trial data.
